Two excellent wines were served.

Catherine and Pierre Breton Vouvray ‘La Dilettante’ 2008 Loire
12% alcohol. ‘Chenin Moustillant Naturellement’. This is a fizzy, sweet Vouvray that is sealed with both a cork and a crowncap (with no liner). It’s a lovely, rich, off-dry wine with some herb, lemon and straw notes. Fresh and fizzy with lovely tangy fruit, this is an ideal match for creamy cheeses. Unusual and delicious. 90/100 (Les Caves de Pyrene)

Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py 2006 Beaujolais
13% alcohol. Foillard’s natural Beaujolais is a real treat, and it is remarkably affordable, at about £14. This shows lovely complex, slightly meaty, dark cherry and berry fruits with a subtly, spicy, earthy edge. Fresh, aromatic, spicy and savoury with nice concentration. 91/100 (£14 The Sampler)

Had dinner at Francis and Bronwen Percival’s home in Borough Market tonight, along with coffee expert James Hoffmann.
