The
wines of Ronco delle Betulle, Rosazzo, Friuli, Italy
UK agent: Richards Walford
Ronco delle Betulle is located in the
hills near Rosazzo in the Colli Orientali (the bit of the Friuli
region right next to the Slovenian border). The estate covers 10
hectares. It was purchased in 1967 by Giovanbattista Adami, and is now
overseen by his daughter Ivana Adami. The soils of the Colli Orientali
consist of a mixture of marl and sandstone, which is believed to be
ideal for cultivating vines on hills.
These are very attractive wines. Surprisingly, for a region
better known for its whites, it was the two reds that impressed me the
most.

rounded palate. Light style. Very good+
