Many of
you will no doubt be familiar with the very successful fine wine
encounter that Decanter hosts each November at the Landmark
Hotel. I've been for the last two years and found them to be
among the best tastings that I've attended (see my report
of the 2000 event). This year they've added a second event
to the calendar, entitled the 'Rising Stars' Fine Wine
Encounter, which looks equally promising.
50 of the world's exciting
up-and-coming producers will be showing their wines at this
event, and the list of producers
attending includes Chain of Ponds (Adelaide Hills), Movia (Slovenia), Kunstler (Germany), Martinborough
Vineyard (New Zealand), Primus (Chile), Schoffit
(Alsace), Jean-Luc Colombo (Rhone), Pibarnon (Bandol)
and Planeta (Italy). It's a fascinating line up, and I'll
definitely be attending.

Decanter
will also be hosting three Rising Stars Masterclasses at the
event '(German Riesling - unsung stars of the wine world', 'Les
Cinq - Star winemaking families of Bordeaux', and 'Rising Stars
of the Barossa'). The equivalent events at the Fine Wine
Encounter normally sell out pretty fast, so if you want to
attend these (tickets are an extra £32 each), you'll need to
move sharpish..
Tickets for the main event, which
takes place at London's Landmark Hotel on Saturday 19 May 2001,
cost £26 per person, double tickets are available at £50, and
there is a group discount for 12 people (12 tickets for the
price of 10). For a full list of exhibitors, and information on
how to book, follow the link below.
