Hugh's book, cheap
Just a plug for Hugh Johnson's A life uncorked, which is now available in paperback for just £5.99 in the UK through Amazon here. I reckon this is a must read.

Thanks for that - I was too stingy to buy it full price! Have also bought Andrew Jefford's 'The New France' from Amazon, which is a tenner off the original price.
Ah, it's good to know about Andrew Jefford's book also. Thanks for that tip.
He was signing copies of the book at Decanter's recent French fine wine encounter. I was helping at the event at which he ran a Masterclass and I was impressed with the depth of knowledge he showed. I thought the book might help me with my WSET Diploma studies but being a Scot I was too mean to buy it full price! Sounds like I'll be getting it off Amazon some time soon.....
Andrew's book is of course another must read. One of the classics.
