I’ve spoken of my love of Adi Badenhorst’s Dassiekop before: it’s one of my favourite Chenins. I brought a bottle to New Zealand and shared it with friends. It was lovely.

This is thrilling. Powerful and spicy with citrus and pear and white peach. Lovely lemony brightness under the mineral-laced citrus fruit. Complex and intense. 95/100

Here’s an earlier tasting note on the wine, as well as a video interview with Adi about this vineyard.

  1. Always enjoy your notes on S Africa. T o be honest, hope you are not going to contin ually push NZ now that you are there.

  2. I have been hoovering up as many bottles of this since I tried it after seeing your note. Amazingly accomplished wine. The word delicious is so over-used in the wine world but this Chenin blanc is truly delicious.
