Been very impressed with the recent Touraine Sauvignon Blancs I’ve tried. The Loire fights back! Here are three that I’ve enjoyed over the last couple of days.
Famille Bougrier Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2010 Loire
Very fresh, precise and lively with lovely grapefruit and citrus character. Precise with a real zip to it. Nicely aromatic with good acidity and real intensity. 90/100 (Laithwaites stock the previous vintage in the UK, at £10 a bottle)
Chateau de Fontenay Le Sauvignon Touraine 2010 Loire
Very fresh, bright, pure and grassy with lively citrus and herb notes on the palate. Assertive and bright with some mineral notes. Fresh and balanced. 89/100
Domaine Mesliand Touraine Sauvignon La Pindorgie 2010 Loire
Fine and expressive with a nose of ripe pear and citrus with some fine herby notes. The palate has grapefruit and peach notes, with some minerality. Lively and fresh with real personality. 90/100
