Kevin Judd’s Greywacke wines are up there with the best from Marlborough, now New Zealand’s biggest wine region, and one that’s beginning to show a number of talents – not just Sauvignon Blanc. These wines just look so good, too, with the labels featuring his creative photography.
Greywacke Pinot Noir 2011 Marlborough, New Zealand
Lovely sweet black cherry and plum fruit. Nicely dense, with some tannic bite. Still quite backward and firm with good grip. Supple, complex and showing nice depth of fruit. 93/100
Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2012 Marlborough, New Zealand
Lively, rich and quite intense with aromas of blackcurrant and grassy green pepper. There’s some pear, apple and spice character on the palate, which balances richness and attractive greenness. Ripe, broad and stylish. 92/100
