Côte Rotie: leading Syrahs from the Northern Rhône
Wednesday 17th April, Central London

Côte Rôtie produces what many believe to be the finest, most perfumed expression of the Syrah grape. Unfortunately, the best wines are usually made in tiny quantities and are difficult to get hold of. This tasting explores a range of Côte Rôties from leading producers, and will include wines from:

  • Ogier
  • Jamet (1999)
  • Gilles Barge Cuvée du Plessy (1999)
  • Gaillard
  • Rostaing
  • Champet
  • Clusel-Roch
  • Burgaud
  • Guigal (Château d'Ampuis)
  • de Vallouit (1998)

Details:
Wednesday April 17th in the Committee Room at 41 Portland Place, London, W1B 1BN, 6.30 pm (map here)
£30 per ticket; maximum 12 places, first-come first-served
Places can be reserved by sending a cheque made payable for £30 to wineanorak.com to: Jamie Goode, Wineanorak Tastings, 41 Portland Place, London W1B 1BN. If the tasting is full, we'll inform you (you can also check first by e-mail: jamie@wineanorak.com)

All are welcome: this will be an informal, round-table tasting where the emphasis will be on enjoying the wines as much as analysing them. I'm deliberately restricting the numbers so that we all get a substantial pour and also to facilitate discussion and general banter about the wines. Wine-friendly snacks (e.g. bread, cheese, olive oil) will be provided, as will basic ISO tasting glasses -- but feel free to bring your own glass (or glasses) if you'd prefer. The room we'll be meeting in is an 18th century Adams terrace in the heart of the west end of London, which is a lovely environment to drink wine in!

The small print: In the unlikely event of this tasting being cancelled, your money will be refunded in full. If you have to cancel your place, your money will be refunded only if we manage to re-sell your ticket. In unusual circumstances it may be necessary to substitute one or more of the wines advertised; if this is the case rest assured that I will do my very best to make sure that the substitutes are of equal value and interest. Also, if you have wines that you feel would add to the interest of the tasting and would like to bring these in lieu of the ticket price, please discuss this with me and we'll try to work something out.
