Lively and fruity with some toast. Bright and very fruity with pears, grapes and a bit of peach. 90/100
Almeida Garrett Brut 2008 Beira Interior, Portugal
Very attractive with lovely toast, pear, ripe apple notes. Showing some nice maturity with a savoury edge to the fruit. Nice focus. 91/100
Champagne Bruno Paillard Blanc de Blancs NV
Focused, bright and citrussy with nice acidity. Very linear with real focus and purity. 89/100
Champagne Drappier Quattuor NV
Fruity, herby nose. Fresh, bright, linear palate showing lemons and subtle pith notes. Very fresh and pure with high acidity. 90/100
Champagne de Saint Gall Blanc de Blancs NV
Very open and fruity with bright, vibrant lemony fruit. Citrussy with subtle toast and some ripe apple notes. Youthful with real finesse. 92/100
Champagne Charles Heidsieck NV
Very fruity. Taut, pithy, lemony with some toastiness. Nice depth and concentration here with lots of flavour. Intense with a slight pithy note under the fruit. This is an ambitious wine. 90/100

Fresh, lively and focused with fresh citrus fruit and good acidity. There’s a hint of fennel here and some herbiness. Lively, lemony finish. 88/100
Biondielli Saten NV Franciacortia, Italy
Fruity, simple and herby with a slightly baked, stale character. Bitter finish. 78/100
Champagne Veuve Clicquot NV (2011 disgorgement)
Attractive pear and peach notes with some baked apple and toast. The palate is boldly flavoured with richness and some maturity. Toasty, showing some development and also some honey notes. Lovely richness here. 93/100

Focused, bright and linear with a hint of pith, as well as some herby notes. Lively and taut with nice acidity and a subtle toastiness. 89/100
Codorniu Jaume Cordorniu Gran Reserva 2008 Cava, Spain
Pithy with a bit of resin character on the edge. A real outlier: sherbetty, citrussy, with some bitterness. Fruity, simple and angular. 85/100
